Nitro Police

The Nitro Police Department serves and protects the citizens and visitors of the City with 17 sworn police officers.  All Nitro Police Officers are graduates from the WV State Police Academy. 

The Nitro Police Department has the best communication action plan available with specialized training and experience in the following areas:

  • Canine (K-9) on patrol duty that can be utilized for suspect tracking, search and rescue, narcotics detection and evidence search
  • Certified Crime Scene officers
  • Hazardous Materials response
  • Mutual Aid agreements with other law enforcement agencies that can bring in additional resources when necessary

The city also maintains a fleet of 17 modern police vehicles to ensure the safety of the public.  With a response time of 5 minutes or less, the Nitro Police Department offers the citizens peace of mind when you make that emergency call.
